Law, Society & AI Research Seminar Series ( Wednesday, 9 March, 2.30pm, France)

Dear Colleagues:

As a follow up to the "Algorithmic Law and Society Symposium", we are glad to share the launching of a new interdisciplinary research seminar series on “Law, Society & AI” (LS&AI) organised jointly by the Law department of HEC Paris, Telecom Paris & Ecole Polytechnique. The LS&AI seminar is designed as a series of invited talks on questions at the intersection of legal, societal, and artificial intelligence issues. It will take place online, as well as F2F on the premises of HEC Paris, Telecom Paris and Ecole Polytechnique. All the sessions will be broadcasted online.

We would like to invite you to join the inaugural online session this Wednesday, 9 March, 2.30pm. We will kick off with an introduction to the seminar by the conveners followed by a talk by Winston Maxwell (Telecom Paris) on Human Oversight of Algorithmic Decision Systems— does it serve a purpose?

You can find more information about the seminar series, including the full programme for 2022 and relevant information to connect online, on this provisional website: https://suchanek.name/work/research/lsai/index.html

If you would like to present a paper in 2023 or be a discussant to one of the papers already scheduled in the 2022 programme, please reach out to us.

Best regards

Prof. Dr. David Restrepo
Associate Professor of Data Law and Artificial Intelligence, HEC Paris
Chair of the Artificial Intelligence Group (SIG), American Academy of Legal Studies in Business
