The American Bar Foundation (ABF) and The JPB Foundation invite emerging scholars interested in studying access to justice to join the ABF’s intellectual community for The ABF/JPB Foundation Access to Justice Scholars Program. The program expands empirical access to justice scholarship by encouraging scholars to engage with this bourgeoning research field. The program brings together two cohorts of five Faculty Scholars serving overlapping 15-month terms and one two-year Postdoctoral Scholar to support their research, mentor their progress, and build the intellectual relationships needed to grow the access to justice field. While in residence, the Postdoctoral Scholar will have the opportunity to conduct their own research in an empirical and interdisciplinary research environment, and benefit from the academic and administrative resources of the ABF.
The ABF is still inviting applications for the following opportunity:
1. ABF/JPB Foundation Access to Justice Postdoctoral Scholar Program
In addition to working on their own research, Fellows receive mentoring from a community of leading socio-legal scholars throughout the length of the fellowship. They will participate in a series of weekly in-house seminars to get acquainted with the many facets of sociolegal research and working groups to promote professional development, such writing workshops and mock job talks.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will receive a stipend of $65,000 per year for two years, and benefits through the ABF. The Scholar will also have access to a research account to reimburse expenses associated with research or travel to conferences at which papers are presented. Reasonable relocation expenses may be reimbursed on application.
